Outdoor Living Trends for 2021

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

2020 saw more of us staying at home and enjoying our gardens and balconies. It looks like this year will be no different, so what are the top trends in outdoor living this year? Here are some of our favourites!

1. Indoor Outdoor

As we spend more time at home, our gardens have become an extension of our indoor living spaces. The days of white plastic tables and chairs are long gone and homeowners are searching for seating with the comfort of their living room sofas. As well as quality garden furniture; outdoor rugs, cushions and well-deliberated lighting will all be important ways of creating that indoor outdoor feeling.

With our deep fill base cushions, once you've sat on a Bellissima sofa or armchair, we don't think you'll want to lounge indoors again!

2. Grey Gardens

One of the most popular indoor paint colour choices last year is making it’s way to our outdoor living spaces for 2021. Grey has a calming effect and the neutral tones look particularly great with the pop of natural colour from plants and trees. Whether it’s your garden furniture, paving, fencing or accessories, grey is certainly here to stay in 2021.

This year all our rattan furniture collections are finished in grey and complimented perfectly by our grey and white striped throw cushions!

3. Wild Gardens

Manicured gardens with orderly flower beds are also a thing of the past. As more of us are using our gardens to relax in and escape their home office (or home schooling!), wild, relaxed garden spaces are increasing in popularity. Wildflowers and large grass areas are also a haven for wildlife such as bees, hedgehogs and butterflies.

4. Fire

Fire is featured in many garden designs in 2021 and we understand exactly why! The warm, cozy ambience it creates, entices us to spend even longer in our gardens and is the perfect backdrop to long chats with family and friends.

Our gas fire pit tables are at the very heart of Bellissima, extending the time we spend outdoors and adding a touch of the atmosphere of an Italian summer night!

5. Edible Gardening

Similar to the wild garden trend, more of us want our gardens to be more than just a pretty space! Edible gardening is about using the space we have to plant herbs, edible flower varieties, fruits and vegetables. After all, who doesn’t smile at the thought of a bright red, ripe strawberry peering out from it’s green leaves!

At Bellissima we can’t wait for Spring and the opportunity to get back outside and into our gardens. With our high quality, comfortable seating in stylish grey PE rattan complimented by our smokeless gas fire pit sets, designed to create the ambience of a summer night in Italy, we are excited for the year ahead! Now we just need to do some research on which wildflowers attract the bees, how to plant a successful vegetable garden and we’re all set!
